The Story So Far…

The Story So Far

There are four games with a continued storyline taking place before Assassins Creed III.

In Assassin’s Creed, Desmond Miles is forced by Abstergo Industries to enter the Animus, a machine that lets users gain access to their ancestor’s memories.

Desmond finds out that one of his descendants – Altair – was a member of the Assassins Brotherhood of Masyaf.

At the end of this game, he overthrows his master (who secretly turned against the Brotherhood and joined the evil Templars Order) and tries to use the magical powers of the Apple of Eden for his own greed.

At the start of Assassins Creed II, Desmond finds out that Absrtergo is just a font for the modern-day Templars. He escapes with a few other Abstergo employees who were covert members of the Assassins Order.

Soon, Desmond starts to relive the memories of Ezio Auditore, an Italian playboy who turns into an assassin after his father and brothers are sentenced to death by Papal rulers.

Ezio soon takes revenge on them and finds the Apple hidden by Altair. His story extends into two sequels – Assassin Creed Brotherhood and Assassins Creed: Revelations. These three games form a part of the Ezio saga.

However, during this time, Ezio and Desmond both meet Juno and Minerva – two ancient celestial beings. They foretell that Armageddon is approaching soon, and the power of the Apple is the only thing that can start and stop it.

This is why the Templars and the Assassins have been fighting for centuries to gain control over this mythical artifact. Finally, towards the end of Assassin’s Creed Revelations, Desmond finds the Apple and plans to stop the armageddon in Assassins Creed III.

The Final Countdown Begins

The Final Countdown Begins

At the start of Assassins Creed III, Desmond starts fleeting through the memories of Edward Kenway; an assassin turned Templar who is sent on a mission to create a Templar order in British America.

Here, Edward helps the Mohawk tribe drive off British invaders. However, he falls in love with a tribal girl, who gives birth to their son Ratonhnhaké:ton (also known as Connor Kenway).

However, Connors’s mother dies of an invasion led by colonial Templar Charles Lee years later. He somehow escapes and gets trained by the assassin Achilles Davenport.

Now, Desmond starts following the revenge story of Connor in Assassins Creed III closely to find the truth about the Apple and stop the modern-day Armageddon.

Gameplay

The main gameplay elements are:

Open World Map And Exploration

Open World Map And Exploration

Assassins Creed III takes place in the Frontier, a pre-colonized America. All the events of this happen between the years 1754 – 1783. As Connor Kenway, you are free to explore the open-world map of this game.

The maps are filled with jungles, snowy mountains, and cities of Boston and New York cities. As an Assassin, you must master stealth to blend in with the crows and the environment to kill enemies silently.

You can also fast travel to previously visited locations and even ride a canoe to cross water bodies. Alongside completing quests, you can also hunt wild animals like wolves, bears, and deer. You can sell their skin to merchants and get money to buy and upgrade your arsenal.

Movement And Parkour

This game allows movement parkour to a larger extent compared to previous games. You can run, jump, slide, and climb buildings and trees. Use these mechanics to your advantage to reach vantage points and scout the area ahead.

During combat, you can use these mechanics to your advantage. For example, you can either use parkour to get to cover or get the drop on unsuspecting enemies.

Weapons, Combat, And Stealth

Assassins Creed 3 Remastered is a stealth game. Your objective is to kill your target each mission as stealthily as possible. If enemies see you, they will call for reinforcements, making the mission more difficult.

You have many weapons in your arsenal like the signature hidden blade and other swords (like the tomahawk) and bows. You can also use the Bayonetta rifle and flintlock pistols with these medieval weapons.

During combat, it’s best to sneak up on enemies (either from behind them or hiding in nearby objects) to get an instant kill. When fighting them head-on, you can block and parry theory attacks to land a killing blow.
